Nachos and Hash Blog Tour with Brandon Witt

blog-tour

I am delighted to host Brandon on his blog tour for Nachos and Hash. I’ve read it and loved every minute. I will be posting a review shortly, I simply didn’t have the time to prepare it in time for today, more’s the pity. It’s a five star read anyway.

Brandon did a lovely post below, where you can read all about this book and how it started. Before we start, though, I know Brandon loves his corgis so these pictures are for him. Aren’t they the cutest.

Nachos & Hash, and the entire novella series of Mary’s Boys is a different sort of project for me.  First, it’s novellas.  Second, they are the most strictly romantic stories I’ve written.  Obviously, I’ve written a lot of romances by this point, but there are always other storylines going on within the romance, at times even taking center stage over the romance.  With these stories, the romance is front and center at all times.

Because of this, we also wanted to play with the covers. Due to it being Hamburger Mary’s, it needed to be loud, fun, and over-the-top.  I specifically asked for glitter.  It also needed to be a little bit more romantic than my typical covers.

For this collaboration, AngstyG drew the short straw in getting to design the covers for me.  She was wonderful, even though I had to keep telling her how sorry I was that I kept asking for changes.  She was so patient that you’d think she was auditioning to be my boyfriend.   Literally, down to the capitol letters, I was like, can we try this now? And every time, she did.  She is my hero for the Mary’s Boys series.

Personally, I LOVE behind the scenes stuff, on nearly any topic.  I love seeing how things came to be.  So, I thought you might like to see the evolution of the Nachos & Hash cover.  The danger of this is you might like some of the early versions better.  But that’s okay.  You can pretend the one you like is the actual cover.

  1. Notice Cody’s ear. He’s not written with ear plugs, but when I saw the first version of the cover, I totally wished I could go back and write them in.  Cody would TOTALLY get ear plugs.  They fit him.  Alas, the cover comes at the end of edits.  But, from now on, I will see Cody with the plugs, in my mind.  But, I’m just amazed how seamlessly Agnsty G took care of the issues.  Cover artists are magic, I’m telling you!

about-the-author

Brandon Witt’s outlook on life is greatly impacted by his first eighteen years of growing up gay in a small town in the Ozarks, as well as fifteen years as a counselor and special education teacher for students with severe emotional disabilities. Add to that his obsession with corgis and mermaids, then factor in an unhealthy love affair with cheeseburgers, and you realize that with all those issues, he’s got plenty to write about….

  1. Angtsy G did an amazing job with the cover. It is gorgeous. Covers are so important. You shouldn’t judge a book by its cover, but it is the first thing you see. Unconciously your mind will form an opinion of the book itself.

  2. Congrats and thanks for the post. I love the Hamburger Mary’s setting. I have some fond memories of the place(s) – I live just a few blocks from one in Chicago, but my first one was in D.C. when I first came out.
